Welcome to DAHS

The Danish American Heritage Society (DAHS) believes that there is intrinsic value in identifying, understanding, and preserving our Danish Heritage. Together with our sister organizations, Danish American Archive and Library, Grandview University, and Museum of Danish America, we devote our energies toward achieving that goal.

THE BRIDGE

The Danish American Heritage Society publishes twice yearly a journal, The Bridge.

The Bridge contains scholarly and popular articles, essays, translations, stories, and book reviews that are relevant to better understanding our Danish heritage. The Bridge first appeared in 1978.

DAHS members receive a complimentary copy of each issue of The Bridge. Past issues can be purchased.

In addition, the BYU Library is in the process of digitizing the entire run of The Bridge, where it can be accessed through their Scholars Archive, where it can be easily searched.

BODTKER GRANT

Named after DAHS founders Arnold and Edith Bodtker, Bodtker Grants are intended to support scholarly and creative research into various aspects of Danish heritage and the Danish American experience. Each recipient of a Bodtker Grant is required to submit an article for publication in The Bridge Journal of the Danish American Heritage Society within one year of receiving the grant.

MEMBERSHIP

The DAHS is an all-volunteer organization. All funds received from dues or contributions goes to support the services provided by the DAHS.
